WOKE Toolkit. Teach-in this Friday. New Faculty Club this Thursday.

Over the past few weeks, your union has been assembling a toolkit that we hope will help our members deal with the current war on knowledge and education. With a bit of gallows humor, we've taken to calling it the "W.O.K.E. Toolkit." It contains general advice as well as links to further information on:

  • Resources on Campus

  • Dangers Beyond the University Walls

  • Protecting Yourself Online

  • Dealing With Doxxing

  • Classroom Precautions

  • Dealing With ICE

Please reach out to David Luebke, your VP for Tenure-Track Faculty, at luebke@uauoregon.org if there is any additional information you would like included in this resource. You can find the toolkit and links to other useful materials on the United Academics Community Resources webpage

UO Senate Update

UO Senators passed two resolutions during the October 29 Senate meeting: Opposing the "Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education" and Procedures to Strengthen Shared Governance. We are grateful that our Senate is taking a leadership role on these important issues.

Join Us!

The Politics Committee is an active and vibrant group which has been one key organizing group in recent successful efforts to roll back administrator’s plans to cut programs and tenure-related faculty. We value a collective approach to our work and forging strong relationships among our members. We also all see building the strength of our union as one way to support one another and resist the authoritarian push that we are living through now, one way to recognize and organize against the things that brought us here.

Please consider joining these initiatives of the Politics Committee if you are interested in any ONE of them. We are all juggling time limits and capacity limits, so know that whatever you can contribute is meaningful and appreciated.

  • Legislative Engagement

  • Broader Political Engagement

  • Subcommittee on International & Immigration Issues

  • Social Engagement (in conjunction with the Organizing & Membership Committee of UA)

    • Current social clubs are the Fiber Arts Against Fascism and the Primate Collective (Bouldering).
