Sign up for Your Picket Shift! Come to the Emergency Membership Meeting on Sunday at 6pm.

Sign up for Your Strike Shifts!

We need everyone to sign up for their picket shifts now.

For members who are not based in Eugene, we have a remote picket line where members can meet a few times weekly by Zoom and help with some of the behind-the-scenes activities necessary to support the strike. Please check out the #remote-strike-planning channel on Slack to connect and lend a hand if you cannot make it to the physical picket line.

If you are concerned that you might be targeted because your identity, immigration status, etc, or if you have accessibility concerns that limit your ability to be on the picket line, please sign up for the remote shifts.

While we should all be ready for changes to picket line locations and events, for week one of the strike we will have two main strike lines: one in front of Lillis, and the other at Franklin & Agate near the Knight Campus. There will be two picket shifts, 9am-noon and 1-4pm with a rally (or larger picket line) from noon-1pm elsewhere on campus. The base expectation for faculty in Eugene is one shift per day plus the rally.

PICKET SHIFT SIGN-UP

For more information, please take a look at the Strike Town Hall slides for more information about:

  • What to expect on the picket line
  • What to bring to the picket line
  • Different roles (strike captain, conversation team, etc) on the picket line.
  • Picket line DOs and DONTs
  • Etc.

We will have snacks, water and coffee for picketers.

  • Check out our Pocket Picket Guide.
  • Check our Strike Map for locations (and nearby restrooms, etc).
  • Remote Strike Hours will only take place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. If you are remote, you will be emailed a link on Monday based on your sign-up sheet!

There will be different roles for members on the picket line (the usual chanting and marching, but also engaging passersby about why we are on strike, etc). Each picket line will have at least one picket captain who will help coordinate the line, and can call in support if events warrant it. They will be wearing orange vests. You will check in daily with your picket captain, and if you need to take a break or cannot attend a given shift, let your picket captain know.

Given the Federal crackdown on protests on campuses, we all need to be especially careful to maintain message discipline while striking. Picketers should stick to protesting in support of a fair contract. Of course, there are many things to protest these days, but in order to protect faculty and students, we are asking all members to stay on message while on the strike line.

If you have accessibility concerns, please email [email protected].

Emergency Member Meeting, Sunday at 6pm

Your Bargaining Team has several sessions lined up this week. They are working hard to win a fair contract at the table, and the Contract Action Team is working hard to prepare to win a fair contract via strike if the Bargaining Team calls for it.

We are having an Emergency Membership Meeting this Sunday at 6pm by Zoom. Members of the Bargaining Team will take time away from the table (should they still be there) in order to inform members about the current status of negotiations and details about both sides current offers.

We want to hear from members about how best to move forward given the most up-to-date information.

We will also share information about strike lines, how to sign up for strike shifts and other logistics necessary to support a strong, effective strike.

Zoom in here.
