Syllabus statement regarding a potential strike.

The administration has called for mediation–a state mandated part of bargaining once negotiations have broken down. They have reiterated their intent to pay faculty lower wages in real dollars. While your bargaining team will engage with the mediator and the administration’s team in good faith, evaluating all proposals carefully, we have heard unequivocally that faculty will not stand for wage cuts—not while tuition, state appropriations, and executive administrator salaries are growing faster than inflation. If there is no movement from administration, we may be forced to strike in order to secure the economic and professional conditions faculty need to flourish….


August 4, 2020 Town Hall

United Academics held a virtual Town Hall on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page is posted here on the United Academics webpage. The FAQ responds to the dozens of questions we received during the meeting and over the last several months. If you don’t see answers to your questions there, drop us a line at [email protected]. A Sour Note

While there is great anticipation for the coming academic year, there is also one sour note. Over the summer, the Office of the Provost ruled that faculty can be transferred within the institution at any time, for any reason. Essentially, you can be sent to work in Eugene, Portland, Charleston, or any other place the administration can call a university location. You can, of course, also be transferred back or somewhere else. The Provost’s Office believes that you have no right or say in where you work.
