Bargaining Update, Caucuses, and Egan Donations

Bargaining Update
United Academics and the Administration are in the process of finalizing details of a raise package. A Memorandum of Understanding should be ready for review by the membership on Monday, December 6. We anticipate the ratification vote to occur Wednesday, December 8 through Friday, December 10. Stay tuned!

Bargaining Schedule
The second bargaining session of the term will be held on Friday, Dec. 10 from 9am to noon. Join us!

COVID Concerns
We’ve created a Google Form to help document some of the issues faculty have faced during the transition back to in-person instruction and research activities. You can use it to report issues with classrooms, COVID-related policies, workplace expectations, etc. You can also email us at [email protected].

Donation Drive for Egan Warming Center
UA will collect items for the Egan Warming Center over the next several weeks - a list of items they need can be found here. Items can be brought to the union office, and we'll do a drop-off before the office closes for break and another in January. Through December 17, the Union Hall will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00am - 4:00pm and by appointment. As always, you can contact the staff at 541-636-4714 or  [email protected].

Caucuses
United Academics VP for Diversity and Equity Lynn Fujiwara would like to gather information about how membership engages and works with the caucuses. Would you like to join a caucus? What would you like to see happen in the caucus? Is there a different caucus or working group you’d like to see formed? This brief survey will help future organizing and best ways to focus our collective energies.

You can also email Lynn ([email protected]) or Kristy ([email protected]) if you would like to be added to any of our existing caucuses.

Join the Representative Assembly
Representatives and stewards constitute the Representative Assembly. They meet twice per term to discuss workplace and organizational concerns, as well as the strategic direction of our union. The Rep Assembly serves as a crucial balance to the Executive Council, offering a wide perspective of our bargaining unit across campus. Reps also have an important responsibility for revising our somewhat neglected Constitution and Bylaws, an important task for this AY.

Email Heather if you would like to learn more about these opportunities.
