Bargaining Update
We are set to begin bargaining next Tuesday, February 9, from 3 to 5pm. Unfortunately, we have not yet agreed to ground rules with the administration. The main disagreement we are having with them regards who will be able to observe bargaining. The administration would like to limit the audience to bargaining unit members, administrators, and invited guests.
Due to this ongoing disagreement, we do not feel comfortable widely sharing a link to the first session at this time. The bargaining team will be meeting this evening to discuss our best approach to resolve this issue. We hope you will receive a link to the session on Monday or Tuesday. We will endeavor to keep you informed.

AFT-Oregon Delegate Nominations Open
AFT-Oregon, one of our affiliate unions, is holding their bi-annual convention this April. Due to COVID restrictions, the convention will be held virtually through zoom. The convention is scheduled for:
April 23: 5 pm to 8 pm
April 24: 9 am to 5 pm
April 25: 9 am to Noonish
As one of the larger AFT-Oregon locals, United Academics is eligible to “send” 21 Delegates to the convention. Although the convention will be virtual, there will be AFT-Oregon officer elections, votes on Constitutional amendments, and resolutions that direct the future of the organization. Delegates from United Academics will be expected to attend all three sessions of the convention.
We are taking nominations for Delegate to the convention. Members in good standing* are eligible to serve as delegate, as well as to nominate other members in good standing. Self-nominations are also permitted. In order to be nominated to be Delegate, a member in good standing needs the signature of 10 other members in good standing. Due to the special circumstances this year, the Elections Committee has determined that an email from a @uoregon.edu address that includes the nominating faculty member’s 95- number will be an acceptable stand-in for a signature.
If you wish to nominate yourself or someone else to be a Delegate to the AFT-Oregon convention, please send the following information to [email protected]:
> Your Name
> Your UO ID number
> The name of the person or persons you are nominating to be Delegate
Nomination notices must be received by 4:59 pm on March 5, 2021.
If you would like to learn more information about AFT-Oregon, the convention, or the responsibilities of being a UA Delegate, please do not hesitate to ask. Email the staff at [email protected] and we’ll get you the information you need.
