Bargaining this Thursday; Election results

Admin wants to take their failed financial planning out of your paycheck

United Academics is back at the bargaining table this week, Thursday April 4, from 12:30-3:30 in Chiles 125. Come out and support your bargaining team! The administration has promised to walk us through their lackluster salary proposal which fails to keep up with inflation, puts us farther behind our comparators, and excludes raises for many of the faculty in your bargaining unit.

Let’s pack the room again!

Your presence in the Zoom also makes a difference, but in-person sends a stronger message!

The inflationary environment is not news, and the fact that the administration had no plan to deal with inflation, much less to provide competitive salaries, is disappointing, to say the least. It is time for faculty to stand together and tell the administration exactly what we need to be excellent, and to demand excellence from them. An excellent administration would have a plan for inflation, a plan for getting our salaries to the (mere) average of our comparators, and would put away the timeworn tale of woe that funding cuts from the 90’s equate to perpetually low salaries for faculty.

As a reminder, you can come and go during bargaining. Grab your lunch and coffee, bring your laptop, do some work, check your email, or write your lectures. Your presence is enough to send the message: Pay us what we are worth or prepare for the consequences.

We hope you had a restful Spring Break. See you Thursday!
