Actions this week

Events happening this week. We encourage you to participate!

1) UA t-shirts: We have new t-shirts at the union office. We are taking donations to help cover their cost (they cost UA about $11 each). Swing by, pick one up, and show your solidarity to campus!

2) Rally at the board of trustees.  Wear your new UA t-shirt!

DON’T BALANCE THE BUDGET ON OUR BACKS!

Meet us at the Ford Alumni Center to take over the Board of Trustees meeting! Members of LERC, GTFF, SEIU, UAUO, and ASUO will sign up to speak to the BOT about the proposed cut to LERC’s budget and undergraduate tuition hike. We will then re-fuel with some pizza before marching to the EMU Amphitheater for a rally against the administration’s budget decisions. Members and allies are encouraged to wear their organizations’ swag to show their support!

Everyone is also invited to a sign-making party at the GTFF Office (609 13th St.) on Wednesday, 5/22 at 5:00pm to prepare for this event.

This event is hosted by the Campus Labor Council, composed of representatives from LERC, GTFF, SEIU, UAUO, ASUO, and UOPA.

3) Email/call your Oregon legislators. There is (yet another) attack on PERS, and we need your help reaching out to legislators to save our pensions. You should have received an email blast about this yesterday. The email can be read at https://mailchi.mp/uauoregon/pers-emergency ; the pertinent contact information is:

Use this link to find your legislators, and let them know what you think of this bill:

or you can use this union link to quickly register your voice using a template message:

If you’d like to do more than the bare minimum to protect your pension, you could contact the members of the Joint Ways and Means Committee – they are listed here:

Hope to see you at the rally!
